Bright and early ready to leave at 5 am
Don't we look chipper?
Our cheerleading squad. Minus one. Mom was behind the camera.
It is a great route. Down Hobble Creek Canyon. Very pretty and a fun place to run. It ends at Mapleton City Park.
We forgot to tell mom where the car and camera was so we didn't get a picture of Brian coming in with a time of 1:20! Thats an average of 6 minutes 11 seconds per mile!
We got one of Carl though! I think he was around 1:40 which was 7 something minutes per mile. I hope to someday maybe reach 8???
Mile 11-12 was the hardest for me. I just wanted it over at that point. However, my adrenalin kicked in a bit more when Brian and Kenni came to find me. My little runner girl stayed with me for a bit.
See that guy in the white shirt behind me? We passed each other the whole race about 15 times. I wasn't about to let him beat me.
We passed a guy around mile 7 or so with a shirt on that said " i thought this was a 5k?" I was wishing that was the case at this point. This was about the 12.5 ish mark.
Getting to the 13 mile sign was a great feeling except I had to keep going! That .1 of a mile was tough! By the way, Kim was right behind me about 1 minute. She had to stop and stretch for a second but I knew if I stopped I wasn't starting again so I had to keep on going.
ALMOST THERE!
I finished with a 2:13 and Kim a 2:14. Not too bad for my first one but I know we can do it faster next go round.
Oh ya, LOVE the RUNNING SKIRT! Very comfy, cool, zero chafing. Check em out.
All female finishers got a flower. aaahhh.
It was a long road to get there, and now thinking about it I can't believe I ran 13.1 miles! With no walking! (that was my goal too) Never did I ever think I would be ready. All that hard work paid off! Thanks to my man coaching me and telling me I can do it when I kept telling myself I can't do it. I finally just gave up and started listening to him.
Little side note: People cheering for you, strangers and family, really helps! At least for me anyway.
First day of school!
(Graci starts Monday)
