SUNSHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brian is signed up to do a duathalon in St. George and it was scheduled for the end of this month. However, it was postponed till the end of February so we decided that we would go down there last weekend since both Rian and Brian had Friday and today off. We were able to get some very much needed rejuvination from the sun and warm air. By midday, we were all just in short sleeve shirts and it felt soo good. We also acquired a new hobby. My dad has now got us into finding petrified wood. He took us up to Toquerville (where he grew up and my Grandma lived) and we hiked up to Big Rock. I have hiked up to it several times, but it was Brian's first trip. I can honestly say that Shelby is most likely the youngest person to ever hike to it, being less than 4 weeks old. The older girls were staying at Kim's house playing with cousins so we bundled up the babe in the baby bjorn and off we went. She didn't make a peep at all and was even snoring peacefully. I am sure she was enjoying some fresh air as much as we were. Anyway, we hiked up and past big rock in search of petrified wood. It was actually quite exhillerating because we felt like we were on a treasure hunt and got really excited when we would see some. My dad said people sell the stuff for 3 dollars a pound. So it was fun to find it. Brian and my dad both filled up backpack's full to take home. Brian tried to carry down a huge ol' piece but finally gave up after a while and hid it under a tree for the next trip. I hope we can find that same tree again.
That night mom had made a yummy turkey dinner for us and Kim's family.
We also took the girls up to a fun place with white rocks and sand to play in. We enjoyed sitting out on mom and dad's patio listening to the waterfall and admiring all their cactus plants. Oh ya, I forgot about this too. Friday night while the girls were at kims for a slumber party, the folks drove us down the canyon toward Mesquite where we could hike down there too. Then we went back and stopped at KFC. When we pulled up, there was this homeless (I assume) lady rummaging through the garbage for food. She found some, and started to eat it. My mom hopped right out and took her in and bought her a meal. While in there, another lady handed her some cash and told her it was for tomorrow's breakfast. It was so sad, and yet a very good lesson for me because not only did it remind me how blessed we all are, but it also taught me to just be brave and go help people. I don't think I would have dared talk to her or anything. I don't know why, I just probably would not have helped her had I been alone. But, after seeing my mom and the other lady, I decided I would help anyone I see. It just was so sad to see.
On a lighter note, we had a wonderful weekend and it was hard to come home to such wintery coldness. I posted some pics and a little video clip we took.

We share some of the same interests. Lin and I jsut love the desert and love to go treasure hunting for fun stuff like that. We once went to Wyoming and hunted for fossils. We loved it. We also love cactus and desert scenery and just loved driving through Arizona and seeing all of the Suaros. ( is that how you spell it? ) It sounded just divine!
