June 14, 2020

Today is a Sunday. Things are about the same here, as far as the virus goes. Businesses have opened up again but most people wear masks everywhere. Some stores won't let you in unless you have a mask and some even limit the amount of people who can be in the store at one time and you have to wait outside until others come out. We would have been home from our big trip back east just a couple of days had we still been able to go. 2 weeks ago today we went on an impromptu camping trip up to Payson Lakes. Mae, Mike and Summer, and Dave went up. We had a good time. it was nice to go camping again. We went up Sunday morning, set up camp then drove back down for Rians Seminary graduation. 

Since school had remained closed for the entire year, graduation was quite a bit different this year for the class of 2020. It was a drive through and we all parked in the school parking lot to listen to the speakers then we waited for our turn to drive through for her to walk. It turned out very nice considering the circumstances. Now Rian is signed up for real estate school then she will start up UVU this fall. She is planning on moving to Provo with her friend Ali whom she met while in Africa last year. 

The boys also put together a prom so both Kendell and Rian got to go together. They went to Ruby River for dinner, the high school for pictures, and Hayden Roundy's house for the dance. Rian went with Wyatt, Kendell went with Cole French. 

Shelby also had an outdoor recital as well for cheer. 

We also had a fun little graduation parade here in town for all the Genola graduates. 

Kort was introducing Chip to Mr. Bully. Not sure how Chip felt about it. 

We are excited to get our new little puppy this week. She is a cavalier king charles and very sweet. We have decided to name her CoCo. We will breed her to chip one day and get Cavapoos. 

Gray was finally able to get her braces off!

Brian found a snake and brought home for the kids to play with. 

We took out the old stick on backsplash downstairs and replaced it with cute tile. 

Kort mowed the lawn for us once. 

Gray and Shelby were tired of their room so they did a little painting. 

Last week the had State Finals rodeo in St. George and Kendell wanted to go so I took her down on Wednesday along with Kort, Gray and Shelby and we stayed with mom and dad for a couple days. It was good to see them since we haven't since January on our way home from Arizona. We rode the golf cart around, had dinner at Kims house, went to the Corn Dog truck for lunch, and just had a good time visiting. Gray and I met Kim at the Chuckawalla trail friday morning for a hike and she tripped and fell and hurt her knee pretty good. I felt really bad. She says she is pretty sore still. 

Tait and Cael decided to come hang out with us for the weekend. They came down Thursday night and went home today. They rode horses, 4 wheelers, watched movies, and turned off water for Brian at 2:30 in the morning. Candice and Gary just bought a camping trailer too so I'm excited to be able to camping with them sometime hopefully. 

Tait is currently on his "mission Intermission". 

Stranger Things

Things just keep getting stranger. This virus is affecting the whole world. Something I never thought would actually happen in real life. The whole state is told that we cannot be in gatherings of more than 10 people. My uncle Tarval died today. They can't even have a normal funeral for him. Just a graveside service I believe with immediate family members. We have been sticking pretty close to home, except last Saturday Brian and I went out to eat to celebrate our anniversary. We went to Huhot in Spanish fork, then Walmart for about 10 minutes, then Lowes. By Monday morning I was really sick to my stomach. Those are the only places I figure I could have caught any bug. Anway, I was sick in bed all day Monday, felt great Tuesday morning and went to SL to Brian with him and Kort  to pick Mae up from airport. We stopped at mcdonalds on the way home and it tasted good because I hadn't had anything to eat since Sunday night. By the time we got home I was feeling sick again and spent the remainder of the day once again in bed. Around 2 in the morning I got woken up to Kendell throwing up. Poor girl had a rough night and threw up many times. I learned Shelby threw up around 11 but didn't want to wake me because I wasn't feeling well. However by 4 in the morning she was in the bathroom again sick. So that was long night for us 3. I got them settled and we went back to bed around 4:30 ish. I was dreaming something weird then I woke up suddenly and Brian woke the same time and we realized we were experiencing an earthquake! It shook rather hard considering the center of it was in Magna. A 5.7. I remember hearing strange things during it to which was a bit unsettling. But everything is fine and nothing fell or anything. The sickness hit Brian by 11:00 yesterday, and he was very sick but had to go unload trailers. Came home and went to bed after he loaded our chicken coop on a trailer for the people who bought it. Last night it was Graci's turn in the bathroom. I was once again fast asleep when she kept calling my phone to go help her. She felt better today and everyone seemed happy and healthy...unil 3:00 when Rian came up crying that she felt so sick and she was scheduled to work at four. luckily she found someone to cover her shift and she has been sick since. The only one it hasn't affected yet is Kort which is ironic because he is always sticking fingers in his mouth and drinking everyones drinks. When shelby was sick she went and climbed in bed with him and they were all snuggled up. Im expected him to come get me something tonight.... So, first a virus putting everyone in isolation, then the stomach flu, then an earthquake. Wonder what is next.....
We are adjusting to this home schooling as well. Kort loves it and doesn't want to go back to real school. The other kids enjoy the break but miss school and activities. They also have prom coming up so that would be sad if that were to be cancelled. As well as graduation.
Yes, we sold both chicken coops. Never considered getting rid of chickens until the past month and day I just decided I was done with them. Tired of gathering eggs no one eats, or them messing up my yard so I called it quits and listed everything for sale. We had fun with them the past 10 years but ready to not deal with them anymore. Since everything is closed (Dentist and orthos are closed for 3 weeks. Had to reschedule Graci's appt till next month) we just stick around home so I am going to try to journal a lot and catch up on the past couple years,

2020

Its amazing how life can change in just an instant. Last week we were carrying on as normal, got up Sunday, went to church, got up Monday and Brian went to work and kids all left for school. A short week later and here we are, with the world closing down because of the Coronavirus. All schools are closed, as well as church and temples and lots of people working from home. Everyone has been panicking and buying everything from the stores and leaving shelves completely empty. It is kind of an eerie feeling and made me realize I need to stock up more on many things. So, once things hopefully get back to normal I will just buy a couple extra of the essentials that are all gone now such as toilet paper or cleaning supplies. At least we have a freezer full of beef and a pasture full of cows.
Today is our 20th wedding anniversary. Its a good thing we didn't plan a big trip or cruise somewhere because it would have been cancelled. It is fun to think back on our wedding day and then today and see us 5 kids later with one about to graduate.
The fun thing about this is everybody being home and just able to spend a lot of time together. Brian's mom has been to Texas with Karen for a week then Virginia with Carolynn. The took a trip to Disney World. She comes home Tuesday, and I think she is probably good and ready to get home. Its finally getting to feel like spring. It hasn't been too terrible of a winter other than cold, but I am good and ready for warmer weather.
Some fun things I haven't written about: We got another dog! I'm getting back into breeding so I bought myself a red toy poodle for a daddy. We named him Chip and he is so cute and fun. I really enjoy him. I have Roxanne and Vegas who I will breed him with but I want to get a smaller female as well. I'm kind of thinking a Cavapoo possibly.
We got Chip from clear up in Rigby Idaho. It was Presidents Day and Brian had to work so I took Kort, Graci, and Kendell with me and we made the trek. We had to stop in Logan on the way home to pick up some trailers then Ogden to get automatic horse/waterers which are the best things in this whole entire world. Anyway. I had to get two trailers and they were stacked so it was fine. However our stupid year old truck had the death wobble on about 4 times which was scary with trailers hooked on. Anway it was still under warranty so we got it fixed and it doesn't do that anymore but it was a long and scary drive home to Brians work then he drove the rest of the way.
Not sure if I ever mentioned that I bred Roxanne to a white standard poodle last year and she had puppies in June. All were chocolate or black except one girl. I kept here and she is Vegas.
Then Roxanne had a few rendezvous' with the neighbors German Shorthair. So she just had another litter 6 weeks. They are cute. I just sold the first one today and someone else is buying another one in the next day or so. So, its fun to make a bit of money with the dogs.

Rian went to sweethearts back in February with Wyatt. Wyatt is the kid she has gone to every dance with. He is a really good wrestler and took 2nd in State. We went and watched them this year. They took state last year but this year ended in 2nd. But they also moved up a division. Anyway Payson has a really good wrestling team. 

Prom is coming up and they are going together. (that is unless the virus cancels that do but its still over a month away) Kendell also got asked to Prom! She was very excited. She just completed drivers ed but she can't get her license till May because she didn't get her learners permit quick enough.

December was busy with school activities and birthdays. Shelby turned 11 and Graci turned 14. She got a new motorcycle!  We had a very nice Christmas. It was quiet and low key. The day after we got up at 2:30 and off on the road by 3;30 in the morning to head to Arizona. It was a long drive because we hit some storms and the road were really bad till we got to the southern end of the state. We stopped to see Horseshoe Bend and that was really pretty. Then we continued on our way to Suhuarita which is south of Tuscon. Brian's last mission companion lives there now with his family. It was a great trip! We sure enjoyed the sunshine and decided to brave a trip to Mexico. We went down for the day and did a little shopping, ate lunch and got our nails done! We got 5 sets of nails for $80 so it was worth the 2 hour wait in the car it took to get back through the border. It did rain on us all day in Mexico but we still had a lot of fun. 

One of the coolest things we saw was the Titan II missile. It was so interesting to see and Graci even got to push the button to "launch the missile".

We went to Old Tuscon which is an old western movie studio turned amusement park and that was super fun. 

We drove back home to mom and dads house and were eating dinner and catching up on some laundry when Nathan called Brian saying a water line was broken and flooding the horses out. So, we hurried and loaded up and drove the rest of the way to rescue the animals. That started the chain of events that led us to getting the automatic waterers. Why we didn't install those a long time ago I don't know.
